According to the University of Maryland Medical System, Black & African American people are almost 1.5 times more likely to get COVID-19. Those who get COVID-19 are nearly 4 times more likely to require hospitalization and nearly 3 times more likely to die. Latino and Latina people are almost twice as likely to get COVID-19, and those who are infected are more than 4 times more likely to need hospitalization and nearly 3 times more likely to die
Ms. Bell-McKoy is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Associated Black Charities (ABC), a non profit that focuses on education, policy design & innovative strategies to eliminate the impact of structural racism on the African American community.

Dr. Cooper was born in Liberia, West Africa.
As rates of COVID 19 and death continue to rise in the African American and communities of color, Dr. Cooper lead and continues to lead several discussions on the impact of COVID and helping people understand the vaccines and their development and role the world getting back to “work”
As the author of over 200 publications and the principal investigator of more than 15 federal and private foundation grants, Dr. Cooper uses her role and place to advance the work in medicine.

Neufville, III, LLC is proud to profile Sylvie de Souza, MD, FACEP, Chair of Emergency Medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, New York, today on International Women’s Day 2021, for her work in healing and leading the patients & hospital during the COVID 19 epidemic. Dr. de Souza is also clinical assistant professor for St. George’s University, Grenada, West Indies.
Tracing her roots to Ouidah, on the coast of Benin, West Africa Dr. de Souza and her team had already braved & survived 9/11, H1N1 and more when COVID 19 reared its head March 2020 in New York. They moved fast, preparing for the influx of patients, the extra space outside with tents and at that time dealing with shortages of PPE etc.
To understand the magnitude of what she faced/faces, the New York Times, indicated that New York has had 1.69 Million cases & 47,857 deaths from COVID, to date.

The Law Office of Edward W. Neufville, III, LLC proud to profile Kizzmekia S. Corbett PhD, Senior Research Fellow at The National Institutes of Health today on International Women’s Day 2021 whose work and team developed the COVID 19 vaccine and inspired a new generation of scientist.
Dr. Corbett is an American viral immunologist at the Vaccine Research Center (VRC).
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill like our Managing Attorney Edward Wea Neufville, III ~ Go Heels!!! ~ Dr. Corbett is an example and star that shines during this challenging period.
In February 2021, Dr. Corbett was highlighted in the Time’s “Time 100 Next” list under the category of Innovators, with a profile written by Dr. Fauci. In the Time’s profile, Dr. Fauci wrote that Corbett has “been central to the development of the Moderna mRNA vaccine and the Eli Lilly therapeutic monoclonal antibody that were first to enter clinical trials in the U.S.” and that “her work will have a substantial impact on ending the worst respiratory-disease pandemic in more than 100 years.”
